Q. Do I have to play in tournaments?

Nobody is obligated to play in tournaments.

Q. If I want to play in a tournament what do I need to do?

Since tournament rosters are filled on a first-to-pay/ first-to-play basis, the best thing to do is to pay for your spot.  If more than 12 people sign up, priority will be given to those who have come to 2 practices in the 30 days before the sign up deadline.  Any member in good standing can sign up.

Q. Can I sign up for a tournament then pay for my spot when I get paid?

You can but your spot will not be confirmed until you have paid for it. If you write a check it will not be deposited until the day before the tournament.

Q. Can I get a refund if I find I can’t go?

Refunds will be given if a minimum of 10 skaters are able to fill the roster.  Since the fee will already have been paid to the tournament host, refunds cannot be given unless your spot is filled.

Q. What if I want to go to a tournament but do not have a ride?

The tournament coordinator organizes carpools and hotel rooms/room mates if you ask for a room mate or a carpool. This saves on cost for everyone. You are not obligated to have a room mate or to carpool if you choose to go to a tournament.

Q. Am I too new to play in a tournament?

Different tournaments have different divisions so it is best to ask a board member or coach if the tournament you are interested in is appropriate for you.

Q. Will I see my team mates during a tournament weekend other than on the ice?

We try to schedule a meal or two so that the players have the option to meet and eat together (all depends on game schedules). There is never any obligation to participate in team meals/ activities during a tournament weekend.

Q. Is there an age requirement to play in a tournament?

Age requirements are set by the tournament host.  Usually the minimum is age 18.  If an out of town tournament allows under-18 year olds to play, the Banshees require the under-18 player to travel, room, and be in the care of a parent or guardian.
